ChatGPT Prompts for Digital Products You Can Create in Canva
ChatGPT and Canva work well together when you give each tool the right job.
ChatGPT can help you work out what a digital product should contain, who it is for, how to structure it, what copy it needs and how you might position it.
READ: Claude Prompts for Bloggers
Canva can then help you turn that plan into something people can actually use, such as a planner, workbook, checklist, template, ebook or printable.
The mistake is assuming ChatGPT can tell you, with certainty, what will sell.
It can’t.
It can generate plausible ideas, but it does not automatically know current marketplace demand, search volume or what buyers are purchasing right now unless you provide live data or research.

So the strongest workflow is:
- research the market;
- give ChatGPT what you found;
- use it to shape the product;
- build the design in Canva;
- review the finished product carefully before selling it.
OpenAI’s current prompting guidance recommends being clear, specific and providing enough context for the model to understand the task. It also recommends refining prompts based on the response rather than expecting one vague request to produce the perfect result immediately.
The prompts below are designed around that approach.

Before you start: give ChatGPT a product brief
You will get much better ideas if ChatGPT knows who you’re trying to create for.
Use this first:
I want to create a digital product that I can design in Canva.
My niche is:
[NICHE]My target customer is:
[AUDIENCE]Their main problem is:
[PROBLEM]My experience or knowledge in this area is:
[EXPERIENCE]Product types I am comfortable creating:
[PLANNERS / CHECKLISTS / EBOOKS / TEMPLATES / WORKBOOKS / PRINTABLES / OTHER]Where I may sell the product:
[PLATFORM]My current research:
[PASTE ANY SEARCH TERMS, CUSTOMER QUESTIONS, COMPETITOR NOTES OR MARKETPLACE OBSERVATIONS]Use this information as context.
Do not claim that an idea is profitable or in demand unless I have provided evidence supporting that conclusion.
Save this somewhere and reuse it.
It gives ChatGPT far more useful context than:
Give me digital products to sell.
That kind of prompt tends to produce the same collection of planners, ebooks and trackers everybody else has already been told to make.
1. Find digital product ideas for a specific audience
Use this when you know your audience but don’t yet know what to make.
Prompt:
I want to create a useful digital product for:
[AUDIENCE]
Their main problems include:
[PROBLEMS]
Give me 15 digital product ideas I could realistically create in Canva.
For each idea provide:
- product type;
- exact problem it solves;
- who it is best suited to;
- what the product should contain;
- approximate complexity: easy, moderate or advanced;
- whether it would work best as a printable, PDF, editable Canva template or another format.
Avoid generic ideas unless you can make the angle specific.
Do not claim any idea will sell well without evidence.
Why this prompt works
It starts with the customer problem, not the software.
That usually produces more useful product ideas.
A “weekly planner” is generic.
A “weekly planning system for self-employed parents juggling client work and school schedules” is at least trying to solve something identifiable.

2. Turn marketplace research into product opportunities
Do the research first.
Then ask ChatGPT to help interpret it.
Prompt:
I researched digital products in my niche and collected the following notes:
[PASTE NOTES]
These include customer reviews, common product features, search terms and competitor observations.
Analyse the information and identify:
- recurring customer needs;
- complaints about existing products;
- features people repeatedly mention;
- opportunities to simplify an existing product;
- opportunities to serve a more specific audience;
- product ideas supported by the information.
Separate your response into:
Strong evidence
Possible opportunity
Needs more researchDo not infer demand from a single example.
This is much stronger than asking:
What are the best-selling Canva products right now?
unless you’re actually supplying current sales data.
3. Turn one broad idea into a more specific product
If your idea is too broad, use this.
Prompt:
My initial product idea is:
[IDEA]
Target customer:
[AUDIENCE]
Main problem:
[PROBLEM]
Help me make the product more specific and useful.
Give me five versions of the idea, each aimed at a narrower customer need.
For each version explain:
- who it is for;
- what specific problem it solves;
- what pages or components it should contain;
- how it differs from the broad version;
- what should deliberately be left out.
Recommend the strongest version based on specificity and usefulness, not assumed sales potential.
4. Create a printable planner structure
Prompt:
Help me create a printable planner for:
[AUDIENCE]
Purpose:
[GOAL]
Build a practical page structure.
Include only pages that help the user achieve the stated goal.
For each page give me:
- page title;
- purpose;
- fields or sections;
- instructions the user may need;
- whether the page should be repeated.
Then organise the pages into a logical order.
Avoid adding decorative filler pages simply to make the planner longer.
That last line matters.
A 70-page planner isn’t automatically better than a 20-page planner.
5. Create a workbook that leads to a clear outcome
Prompt:
I want to create a workbook about:
[TOPIC]
The reader should reach this outcome by the end:
[OUTCOME]
Target audience:
[AUDIENCE]
Create a workbook structure that moves the reader step by step toward that outcome.
For each section provide:
- teaching point;
- short explanation;
- reflection question;
- practical exercise;
- worksheet or template needed;
- next action.
Avoid generic journaling questions that do not help the reader make progress.
This works particularly well for:
- business workbooks;
- goal-setting resources;
- content-planning products;
- career workbooks;
- organisation systems.
6. Build an ebook outline
Prompt:
Create an ebook outline for:
[TOPIC]
Audience:
[AUDIENCE]
Main problem:
[PROBLEM]
Desired outcome:
[OUTCOME]
Create a concise ebook structure that solves the problem without unnecessary chapters.
For each chapter include:
- purpose;
- key points;
- practical example;
- action step.
Identify any claims that would require external research or sourcing.
Do not invent statistics, case studies or expert quotes.
This is a better starting point than immediately asking ChatGPT to write 10,000 words.
7. Create a checklist people can actually use
Prompt:
Create a practical checklist for:
[TASK]
Audience:
[AUDIENCE]
The checklist should help someone go from:
[STARTING POINT]
to:
[FINISHED RESULT]
Organise it into logical stages.
Each checklist item should be specific enough that a user knows whether it has been completed.
Avoid vague items such as:
“Create a strategy”
or
“Improve your marketing”unless you break them into concrete actions.
You could turn the result into:
- a one-page printable;
- multi-page checklist;
- onboarding resource;
- launch checklist;
- wedding checklist;
- moving checklist;
- travel checklist;
- business checklist.

8. Create a tracker
Prompt:
Help me design a tracker for:
[WHAT IS BEING TRACKED]
Audience:
[AUDIENCE]
Goal:
[GOAL]
Recommend the fields that should appear on the tracker.
For each field explain why it is useful.
Separate fields into:
Essential
OptionalThen suggest:
- daily format;
- weekly format;
- monthly format;
- which format is most appropriate and why.
Avoid collecting information that the user is unlikely to use.
9. Create an editable Canva template pack
Templates need to be genuinely useful, not just attractive rectangles with editable text.
Prompt:
I want to create a Canva template pack for:
[AUDIENCE]
They need templates for:
[PURPOSE]
Recommend 15 individual templates for the pack.
For each provide:
- template purpose;
- required text sections;
- suggested layout;
- what the customer should be able to customise;
- any instructions they may need.
Make the templates sufficiently different to justify being separate designs.
Avoid creating multiple templates that differ only by colour.
Important Canva licensing note
Before selling editable Canva templates, check Canva’s current licensing rules.
Canva currently says products for sale must use original designs. Its help guidance also states that templates containing Pro Content can only be sold under certain conditions, including being shared as Canva template links rather than simply exported and resold in another file format.
Always check the current terms before selling because licensing rules can change.
10. Turn expertise into a digital product
This is one of the strongest ways to avoid creating another generic downloadable.
Prompt:
I know how to do the following:
[EXPLAIN SKILL/PROCESS]
The people who usually need help with this are:
[AUDIENCE]
Help me turn this knowledge into a useful digital product.
Suggest:
- three suitable product formats;
- what each version should contain;
- which parts of my knowledge provide the most value;
- what information I need to add;
- what should remain personalised rather than turned into a template.
Do not invent expertise or experiences I haven’t provided.
That could turn practical experience into:
- a mini-guide;
- toolkit;
- checklist;
- template bundle;
- swipe file;
- workbook;
- planner.
11. Create the copy that goes inside the Canva product
Once the structure is set, use ChatGPT section by section.
Prompt:
Help me write the content for one section of my digital product.
Product:
[PRODUCT]
Audience:
[AUDIENCE]
Section:
[SECTION]
Purpose:
[PURPOSE]
My notes:
[NOTES]
Write concise copy suitable for a Canva-designed product.
Requirements:
- keep paragraphs short;
- prioritise clarity;
- don’t invent facts;
- don’t pad the content;
- use plain English;
- include instructions where the user needs to take an action.
If a statement needs factual verification, mark it:
[FACT CHECK]
Canva layouts usually benefit from tighter copy than a blog article.
ChatGPT can help reduce a long explanation into something that actually fits on the page.
12. Create instructions for using the product
This is often overlooked.
Prompt:
I have created this digital product:
[DESCRIPTION]
Write a clear user instruction page.
Explain:
- what the product is;
- who it is for;
- what files or links are included;
- how to use it;
- how to edit it, if applicable;
- whether it is intended for digital or printed use;
- common questions;
- what the customer should do first.
Keep the language simple.
Do not invent technical instructions I haven’t supplied.
Flag any missing information I need to add.
A good instruction sheet can reduce support emails later.
13. Create a product bundle
Prompt:
I currently have this digital product:
[PRODUCT]
Target customer:
[AUDIENCE]
Main goal:
[GOAL]
Suggest complementary products that could form a useful bundle.
Every additional item must help the same customer achieve the same or closely related outcome.
For each suggestion explain:
- what it adds;
- why it belongs in the bundle;
- whether it should be a printable, editable template, workbook, guide or tracker.
Reject ideas that simply increase the number of files without increasing usefulness.
Bundles should make the offer more useful.
Not merely heavier.
14. Write a clearer digital product listing
Prompt:
Help me write a product listing for this digital product:
Product:
[PRODUCT]
Target customer:
[AUDIENCE]
Main problem:
[PROBLEM]
What is included:
[CONTENTS]
File format:
[FORMAT]
Editable:
[YES/NO]
Important limitations:
[LIMITATIONS]
Write:
- product title;
- opening paragraph;
- key benefits;
- what’s included;
- who it is for;
- how it works;
- important purchasing information;
- short FAQ.
Do not make income claims, guaranteed-results claims or unsupported claims about what the product will achieve.
Keep the description specific rather than overhyped.
15. Turn one product into Pinterest marketing ideas
If you’ve already created the product, ChatGPT can help you market it.
Prompt:
I have created this digital product:
[PRODUCT]
Target customer:
[AUDIENCE]
Main problem:
[PROBLEM]
Features:
[FEATURES]
Create 10 Pinterest marketing angles.
For each provide:
- reader problem;
- Pin headline;
- supporting text idea;
- visual concept;
- natural call to action.
Make the angles meaningfully different.
Do not claim the product guarantees an outcome.
Digital products you can realistically create in Canva
ChatGPT can help plan many kinds of Canva-friendly products.
Some of the most practical include:
| Product type | What Canva handles well |
|---|---|
| Printable planners | Page layouts, trackers, schedules |
| Checklists | One-page or multi-page printable systems |
| Workbooks | Guided exercises and worksheets |
| Ebooks | Branded page layouts and visual structure |
| Templates | Editable social, business or document designs |
| Trackers | Habit, business, budget or planning layouts |
| Journals | Prompt pages and writing layouts |
| Swipe files | Organised reference sheets or examples |
| Media kits | Editable presentation-style templates |
| Content planners | Calendars, planning pages and tracking sheets |
| Lead magnets | Short guides, worksheets and checklists |
| Business forms | Client questionnaires, planners and worksheets |
But remember that being possible to create does not automatically make something worth selling.
The product still needs:
- a clear buyer;
- a useful problem;
- sensible positioning;
- enough value to justify the price;
- a reason to choose it over free alternatives.
ChatGPT should help with product development, not replace research
There is a fairly important distinction here.
ChatGPT can say:
A meal planner for busy mothers could be useful.
That is an idea.
It cannot automatically tell you:
This specific meal planner has proven demand and will generate £2,000 a month.
That requires real evidence.
Before creating a product, research:
- marketplace search suggestions;
- competitor listings;
- customer reviews;
- social media questions;
- Pinterest search behaviour;
- your own audience questions;
- existing products and their weaknesses.
Then give that information to ChatGPT.
This makes the model much more useful because you’re asking it to analyse evidence, rather than invent a market.
Be careful with Canva licensing
This part deserves more attention than it usually gets in “make digital products with Canva” articles.
Canva does allow users to create and sell various products using Canva designs, including templates, ebooks and some printed products, but there are licensing conditions.
Canva’s current guidance says designs sold commercially should be original. It also states that Canva content cannot simply be resold as standalone stock content. Pro Content has additional restrictions, including special conditions when used in templates.
If you’re creating editable Canva templates, check the current Canva Content License Agreement before selling.
Do not assume:
I have Canva Pro, therefore I can resell everything inside Canva.
That is not how the licence works.
A simple ChatGPT + Canva workflow
You don’t need a complicated process.
Step 1: Find a customer problem
Start with the person, not the product.
Step 2: Research the market
Look at current search behaviour, existing products and customer feedback.
Step 3: Give your research to ChatGPT
Ask it to identify gaps and possible product structures.
Step 4: Choose one focused product
Don’t begin by creating a 75-product shop.
Create one genuinely useful resource.
Step 5: Build the content
Use ChatGPT to help organise and refine your material.
Step 6: Design it in Canva
Create an original layout suited to the product.
Step 7: Check the licence
Especially if you’re using Canva Pro Content or selling editable templates.
Step 8: Test the product yourself
Print it.
Open the PDF.
Click the links.
Edit the template.
Check margins.
Check spelling.
Make sure the thing actually works.
Step 9: Create the listing and marketing material
Then use ChatGPT again for descriptions, FAQs, Pinterest ideas and launch content.

Frequently asked questions
Can ChatGPT create digital products for me?
ChatGPT can help create the structure, copy, ideas, instructions and marketing material for a digital product.
You still need to review, edit, fact-check and package the content appropriately.
If the product relies on your expertise, ChatGPT should help organise that expertise rather than fabricate it.
Can I sell digital products made in Canva?
Canva allows many types of commercial products, but the exact rights depend on the content you use and the format you sell.
Canva currently requires commercial products to be original designs and places additional conditions on some uses of Pro Content, particularly editable templates. Always check Canva’s current licensing terms before selling.
Can I sell Canva templates?
Yes, under certain conditions.
Canva’s current guidance says templates need to be original designs, and if they include Pro Content, there are specific rules around how they are shared and sold.

Can ChatGPT tell me which digital products will sell?
It can suggest ideas.
It cannot reliably verify current demand unless you give it current market information or use appropriate research tools.
Treat its product ideas as hypotheses to research, not guaranteed opportunities.
What is the easiest Canva digital product for a beginner?
Simple checklists, trackers, planners and short workbooks are often easier to build than large ebooks or complex template systems because the structure is more contained.
But the easiest product to create is not automatically the easiest product to sell.
Start with a clear customer problem.
The best product usually starts before Canva
It is tempting to open Canva first.
Choose a lovely template.
Change the colours.
Add thirty pages.
Then attempt to work out what you’ve actually made.
Reverse that process.
Start with the person.
Identify the problem.
Research what they need.
Use ChatGPT to help you organise the solution.
Then use Canva to make that solution easy to understand and pleasant to use.
ChatGPT gives you the thinking support.
Canva gives you the visual framework.
The value still has to come from creating something people genuinely need.
